    Interpersonal Violence

Interpersonal violence is the leading cause of injury prompting women to seek medical attention - more common than car accidents, mugging, and rape combined. It causes a range of physical, economic, and mental health problems, including substance abuse, suicide attempts, depression, and homelessness.

Over the years I have traveled to domestic violence shelters in the United States and Italy to document their spaces and objects. Shelters provide critical services to women, men, and children whose lives are in crisis - it is an honor to be a witness to these protected spaces.
